About The Position

Stones River Dental is a growing, patient-focused practice in Murfreesboro, TN, led by Dr. Abby Slyman and affiliated with Tailwater. We are seeking a warm, dependable, and adaptable team member to join us as a Patient Coordinator in a flexible, cross-trained capacity. This is primarily a front desk, patient-facing position: you will be the first face our patients see and the first voice they hear. Beyond the front desk, the ideal candidate is someone who enjoys variety and is willing to step into dental assisting or hygiene assisting roles when staffing needs arise due to vacation, illness, leave, or other office needs. Requirements

  • A friendly, professional, patient-first attitude and excellent communication skills.
  • Genuine interest in front desk dental work and patient-facing service.
  • Flexibility and a team-first mindset – willingness to cross-train and pitch in where needed.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfort with computers and the ability to learn dental practice management software.
  • Reliability and dependability the team can count on.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior clinical experience is helpful but not required – we are happy to train the right person.
  • Prior dental front desk, dental assisting, or hygiene assisting experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients warmly, creating a welcoming first impression.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, and manage the daily schedule to keep the day running smoothly.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient questions promptly and professionally.
  • Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits, and clearly communicate coverage to patients.
  • Collect payments, post transactions, and assist patients with billing and account questions.
  • Manage patient records and intake paperwork accurately and confidentially.
  • Coordinate recall and follow-up appointments to support continuity of care.
  • Support a positive, organized front office that reflects the values of the practice.
  • Assisting the dentist chairside during procedures (dental assisting).
  • Supporting the hygiene team by preparing rooms, sterilizing instruments, and assisting hygienists.
  • Turning over and setting up operatories between patients.
  • Helping maintain a clean, stocked, and compliant clinical environment.
