About The Position

This is an in-person position at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, located at 8200 Walnut Hill Ln., Dallas, TX. The role is Full Time, Days, with 36 hours a week, working from 6:45 am to 7:15 pm. The Patient Companion Virtual Care role utilizes technology for virtual patient observation and interventions to ensure safe patient care. This involves demonstrating competency in setting up and using virtual patient observation monitoring software, computer hardware, and communication devices. The position requires collaboration with hospital unit nursing staff to optimize camera visibility and conduct positive patient identification. Responsibilities include assuring alarms are activated with appropriate settings and are sufficiently audible, maintaining continuous visual observation of multiple patients simultaneously on a monitor, and ensuring a co-worker monitors assigned patients during breaks or other temporary situations. The role also involves redirecting patients promptly to maintain safety. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas is an 875-bed, full-service hospital that has served the Dallas community and surrounding areas since 1966, specializing in cancer care, cardiology, neurosciences, women’s services, and emergency medicine. It is a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level I Trauma Center, and Comprehensive Heart Attack Center, and a designated Magnet hospital.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • 1 Year Experience in an patient care setting/role such as Nurse Aide's, Patient Care Tech, Monitor Tech, or other nursing support role is required
  • Basic computer skills, data entry required.
  • Job requires sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Proficient communication.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains continuous visual observation of multiple patients at one time on a monitor; assures a co-worker is monitoring assigned patients during breaks or other temporary situations when unable to maintain continuous observation (e.g., when engaged in two-way video call).
  • Redirects patients promptly to maintain patient safety.
