About The Position

The Patient Companion Virtual Care role utilizes technology for virtual patient observation and interventions to ensure safe patient care. This position involves collaborating with hospital unit nursing staff to set up and manage virtual patient observation monitoring software, computer hardware, and communication devices. The role requires continuous visual observation of multiple patients on a monitor, ensuring patient safety by redirecting them promptly. The Patient Companion also ensures alarms are activated with appropriate settings and are sufficiently audible. This is a part-time, in-person position located at 8200 Walnut Hill Ln., Dallas, TX, with shifts from 6:45 am to 7:15 pm, 24 hours a week, 2 shifts per week.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
1 Year Experience in an patient care setting/role such as Nurse Aide's, Patient Care Tech, Monitor Tech, or other nursing support role is required
Basic computer skills, data entry required.
Proficient communication.
Use of hands, vision-color, hearing, speaking.

Responsibilities

Utilizes the technology required for virtual patient observation and interventions for safe patient care.
Demonstrates competency in the set-up and ongoing use of virtual patient observation monitoring software, computer hardware, and communication devices.
Collaborates with hospital unit nursing staff to set up camera to optimize patient visibility and conduct positive patient identification.
Assures alarms are activated with appropriate settings and are sufficiently audible.
Maintains continuous visual observation of multiple patients at one time on a monitor; assures a co-worker is monitoring assigned patients during breaks or other temporary situations when unable to maintain continuous observation (e.g., when engaged in two-way video call).
Redirects patients promptly to maintain patient safety.
