About The Position

As a Patient Care Technician on this 24-bed Medical ICU, you will care for a diverse patient population, including medical, cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, neurological, endocrine, and post-surgical patients, including cardiovascular surgery cases. This hybrid HUC/PCT role combines direct patient care with unit coordination responsibilities, serving as one of the first points of contact for patients and families entering the ICU. You will provide routine patient care, collect and document patient information, support unit operations, and collaborate closely with a highly engaged and supportive interdisciplinary team. Our ICU is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment where compassion, empathy, professionalism, and strong communication skills are essential. We welcome candidates with healthcare experience as well as those who are new to the field and eager to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact on the patient and family experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Completion of Block 1 in Nursing OR Medical Assistant (MA) OR Nursing Assistant (NA) OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) OR 6 months of experience in the healthcare setting within the last year Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Required

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months in acute care experience. Preferred
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Certification Preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT) - License Emergency Medical Tech Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient related care tasks based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in his/her independent unit.
  • Assists, observes, and reports patient changes to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation relative to the care delivered.
  • Provides and collaborates direct patient care services under the direct supervisor of a licensed caregiver. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and implementation of selected portions of the patient care plan as directed under supervisor of nurse.
  • Assists, observes and reports changes in patient condition to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation in relation to the care delivered.
  • Addresses and/or directs questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
