About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. This is an employee position with MUSC Health, operating on a 36-hour work week with rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Patient Care Technician I: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Patient Care Technician II: High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met: Associate or Bachelor's degree, At least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS, 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility, Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution, Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution, Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution.
  • Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
