The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct, age-specific care to patients under the direction of healthcare leadership. This role involves monitoring patient conditions, providing updates to the healthcare team, and delivering direct and indirect care to meet patient comfort, hygiene, and safety needs. PCTs ensure their assigned clinical location is safe, clean, and stocked, and maintain supplies and equipment to promote quality patient care. They contribute to the patient experience by accurately identifying patients, observing safety goals, and reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel. PCTs also obtain and record patient information, assist in collecting specimens, and attend all mandatory in-services and training. Patient safety is a key responsibility, as is demonstrating ASPIRE Values and teamwork in patient care delivery. Recognizing the importance of time-sensitive issues is also crucial.
