Patient Care Technician - Weekender- Medical Pulmonary Unit - Nights
About The Position
This position is for a Patient Care Technician on the Medical Pulmonary Unit, working nights as part of the Weekender Program. The role involves providing patient assessment, collecting health data, coordinating the patient plan of care, communicating effectively with customers, individualizing patient and family teaching, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The technician will also maintain professional knowledge in current nursing practice standards, laws, and regulations. The position is full-time, 36 hours per week, requiring four weekend shifts per bi-weekly pay period, with limited ability to request time off during weekends. The hourly pay rate ranges from $18.84 to $27.32, determined by factors such as expertise and years of experience.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an Associate's degree or BSN from an accredited school of nursing
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Illinois
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
Responsibilities
- Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers.
- Coordinates patient plan of care to assure interventions are consistent, safe, timely and appropriate.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with all customers, in person, on the phone and in writing.
- Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs.
- Participates in evaluating quality and effectiveness of nursing practice by participating in quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintains professional knowledge in current nursing practice standards, laws and regulations.
