About The Position

The PCT ll is a dual role Patient Care Tech/Telemetry Tech capable of functioning independently in either role. Under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse, the dual role Patient Care Tech provides basic nursing care for both in-patients and out-patients within their assigned area. As a Telemetry Tech, the individual is responsible for accurately monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms for adult and geriatric patients, posting rhythm strips, and keeping the Registered Nurse and Charge Nurse informed of any rhythm changes. The Patient Care Tech/Telemetry Tech is also responsible for collecting and reporting patient information to the supervising RN and completing all patient care related documentation. Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • For hires after 10/31/16: Completion of a CNA program or, Completion of first semester nursing program or, EMT program completion for hires to Emergency Services
  • Hires after 9/2018: Successful completion of dysrhythmia course AND ability to pass rhythm recognition exam test
  • California Nursing Assistant Certification License upon hire or, California Emergency Medical Technician License upon hire
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
  • Experience with basic data entry

Nice To Haves

  • Satisfactory completion of medical terminology course or Knowledge of medical terminology
  • 1 year of acute patient care experience
  • 6 months experience in a direct patient care environment providing clerical or patient support related to provider patient documentation or charting
  • 1 year - Relevant telemetry tech experience

Responsibilities

  • Providing basic nursing care for in-patients and out-patients as needed, within their specified area
  • Accurately monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms for adult and geriatric patients

  • Keeping the Registered Nurse and Charge Nurse informed of changes in rhythm
