Patient Care Technician
About The Position
DaVita is looking for a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease by providing care in an outpatient dialysis center. The position is described as giving life and a career based on passion and purpose, rather than just a job. No dialysis experience is required, and the role provides paid, extensive training to develop the necessary skills and build a network within the healthcare field. Upon completion of training, PCTs join a team of care professionals including nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other experienced PCTs.
Requirements
- Desire to enter the health care field to care for other people in need.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet.
- Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.
- Flexible schedule and ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Health care experience a plus including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment through direct one-on-one patient care.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
- Measure and record patient stats.
- Make patient observations.
- Set up hemodialysis machines.
- Build long-term relationships with patients receiving dialysis treatment.
- Educate patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
- Work under the supervision of an RN.
- Float to various clinics during and after training as needed.
