About The Position
Patient Care Technician positions at MD Anderson Cancer Center play a vital role in supporting patient care within the Medical Oncology G21 Unit. This 48-bed intermediate care unit serves adult and geriatric patients, providing treatment for colorectal, gastrointestinal, and lung cancers, as well as managing complex chemotherapeutic and bio-immunotherapeutic regimens. The unit also cares for patients with acute non-cancer medical conditions and those requiring cardiac monitoring and infusion of cardiac medications.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of recent experience in direct patient care
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
- The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.

Responsibilities
- Provide patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse.
- Act as a member of a multidisciplinary team to identify and address patient care needs.
- Assist with activities of daily living, mobilization, admission/discharge processes, and obtaining vital signs.
- Update and retrieve patient information accurately.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly patient environment.
- Participate as part of an assigned care team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
