Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Dependable, compassionate, caring, supportive, collaborative, reliable.
  • Successful completion of the Fresenius Medical Care dialysis training program.
  • Successful completion of CPR certification.
  • Employees are required to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment. Note that: Failing the Ishihara Test for Color Blindness does not preclude employment. We will consider whether reasonable accommodations can be made.

Nice To Haves

  • Dialysis Experience Preferred
  • Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Set up, test, and operate hemodialysis machines for patient treatments.
  • Obtain and document necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient.
  • Evaluate vascular access pre-treatment and performs vascular access cannulation.
  • Evaluate intradialytic problems and provides intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed.
  • Monitor patients’ response to dialysis therapy.
  • Evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access and discontinues dialysis treatment according to established procedures.
  • Report any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor.
  • Enter all treatment data into the designated clinical application in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Collect, label, appropriately prepare, and store lab samples according to required laboratory specifications.
  • Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy.
  • Assist other healthcare members in providing patient education.
  • Prepare, organize, and efficiently use supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
