Patient Care Technician
About The Position
DaVita is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease by delivering care in an empathetic and compassionate way. This position is ideal for those looking to start a career in the healthcare field, as no prior dialysis experience is required. DaVita provides paid, extensive training to equip individuals with the necessary skills to care for patients and build a network within the healthcare industry. Upon completion of training, PCTs will work as part of a holistic team of care professionals, including nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other experienced PCTs.
Requirements
- Desire to enter the health care field to care for other people in need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be comfortable working around blood and needles
- Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet
- Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed
Nice To Haves
- Healthcare experience a plus
- BONENT Certified
- Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT)
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Phlebotomy certification
Responsibilities
- Spend the majority of the day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup.
- Build long-term relationships with patients receiving treatment for end-stage renal disease.
- Educate patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
- Work under the supervision of an RN.
- Cross-functional team collaboration with technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership.
