Patient Care Technician - Inpatient Psychiatry - Full Time Days
About The Position
Gracie Square Hospital, affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine, provides behavioral healthcare and patient- and family-centered care. The Patient Care Technician works in inpatient psychiatry, performing phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection while maintaining awareness of patient needs during routine procedures. The technician reports observations and abnormal findings and collaborates with the clinical team, helps put patients at ease, and supports the nursing team. The role also participates in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. This is a full-time, onsite day-shift position from 6:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Employees must live within commuting distance of NYP; travel expenses are not reimbursed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certification in EKG and phlebotomy.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of experience as a phlebotomist.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection.
- Maintain awareness of patient needs while performing routine procedures.
- Report observations and collaborate with the clinical team regarding abnormal findings.
- Put patients at ease and support the nursing team through observation.
- Participate in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
