About The Position

Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our MassMutual 5 Heart & Vascular Interventional at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Cardiac Progressive Care Unit is part of the Cardiac Interventional Unit. The Cardiac Interventional unit is a 33-bed unit consisting of 12 Progressive Care Unit beds and 21 Acute Care beds. This unit treats interventional cardiology patients with cases such as post-cardiac catheters, post-cardiac ablation, post-pacemakers, and patients coming from the EP lab. This unit features a great, cohesive team with staff willing to help each other out. Baystate’s Regional Heart Attack Program is known nationally for delivering life-saving care. During a heart attack, every minute counts. We can unblock your artery up to 25 minutes sooner than the national standard. In fact, Baystate is in the top 10% of hospitals nationwide when it comes to this life-saving treatment. Baystate Medical Center is the only hospital in our area that can stop a heart attack instantly by unblocking an artery. And we can do this procedure 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Baystate Medical Center’s experts perform more than 80% of all cardiac surgeries in western Massachusetts. When it comes to heart surgery, we are one of the top three highest-volume medical centers in Massachusetts. Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association
• GED or HiSET (Required)
• Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
• Certified Nurse Aide - Other

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of patient care experience (this experience can vary in level of long-term care, specialty, acute care PCT training or CNA training

Responsibilities

• Provided safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, elimination, and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety.
• Monitored and accurately documented vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assisted with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed, recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns, and responded appropriately to emergency situations.
• Collaborated effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication, accurate documentation, and patient-centered care.
• Make a meaningful difference every day. As a Patient Care Technician, you’ll provide hands-on care, support patient safety and comfort, recognize important changes in condition, and work alongside nurses and the broader care team to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
