Patient Care Technician
About The Position
DaVita is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team in an outpatient dialysis center. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease by delivering care in an empathetic and compassionate way. No dialysis experience is required, and the position provides paid, extensive training to gain necessary skills and build a network of healthcare professionals. Upon completion of training, PCTs join a holistic team of care professionals, including nurses, dietitians, and social workers, to care for patients. It is described as more than a job, but a career based on passion and purpose.
Requirements
- Desire to enter the health care field to care for other people in need.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet.
- Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Healthcare experience a plus including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment through direct one-on-one patient care.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
- Measure and record patient stats.
- Observe patients.
- Set up hemodialysis machines.
- Build long-term relationships with patients.
- Educate patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
