About The Position

Horizon Medical Center of McKinney is a modern, state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation hospital committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care to our community. As a growing facility, we are focused on setting a new standard in rehabilitation through compassion, teamwork, and clinical excellence. We are currently seeking compassionate and experienced Patient Care Technicians to join our team on the 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Patient Care Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • English is the primary language of the facility.
  • Ability to read and write, communicate clearly with co-workers and customers and to respond to appropriate questions regarding work process or work product.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals as appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form.
  • Ability to define and solve problems and collect data.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of teams and individuals.
  • Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Patient Care Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant in a hospital setting.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
  • Minimum one (1) year of healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efficient flow of patient and unit-related information.
  • Answer and route telephone calls, relay messages, and maintain clear communication throughout the unit.
  • Prepare and organize patient charts, reports, requisitions, and other required documentation.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, and other direct patient care needs.
  • Support the clinical team in providing safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Maintains excellent working relationships with co-workers, health care professionals and other health related facilities and organizations as appropriate.
  • Promotes Organization philosophy, mission and objectives within and to patients and customers outside the hospital.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities and complete duties within allotted time.
  • Willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.

  • Participates in hospital-wide safety program identifying risks to patient safety, and reducing healthcare errors.
  • Participates in relevant in-service training sessions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Promotes and protects patients rights; treats patients with dignity and respect; reports suspected abuse or neglect.

  • Applies hand-washing principles during daily work; demonstrates understanding of isolation precautions; demonstrates understanding of the process for identifying and handling infectious waste; maintains personal hygiene; recognizes signs and symptoms of infection and complies with the employee health program; complies with OSHA standards in the work place; and demonstrates understanding of cross-contamination.
  • Complies with applicable health screenings.
  • Enters or records data timely and accurately; protects confidentiality of patient information; protects data against loss or destruction; reports suspected violation of security/confidentiality issues timely.
  • Demonstrates active listening techniques; gains support through effective relationships; treats others with dignity and respect; seeks feedback; participates in processes to measure effectiveness, efficiency, and service; and maintains reporting mechanisms.
  • Attends in-service and education programs; attends and completes continuing education required for maintenance of applicable license and/or certification.
