About The Position

At Backus Hospital, the Patient Care Technician supports patient care under the supervision of a Nurse Leader. The role includes direct and indirect patient-care activities essential to maintaining a safe and efficient care environment, as well as selected interventions and activities that contribute to comprehensive care in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards, policies, and procedures. Working with the care team, the technician also helps ensure a positive patient experience. The position is in a high-activity environment with multiple priorities and requires scheduling flexibility. A clinical ladder offers additional responsibilities and career advancement based on experience, skills, and certifications.

Requirements

• No experience required; training is provided on-site.
• Successfully complete PCT-specific Hartford HealthCare orientation.
• Obtain an American Heart Association (AHA) Certified BLS Provider credential within 2 months (60 days) of hire or job transfer.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• Some relevant experience in an acute-care hospital environment.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Certified BLS Provider credential.
• Certification as a CNA, CPCT/A, EMT, or CMA to be eligible for advancement in the PCT clinical ladder.
