About The Position

Under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse, performs various duties assisting unit staff nurses and clerical specialists to ensure efficient unit operations and safe patient care following established procedures. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit or within his/her department. Must be able to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures, while maintaining the Augusta Health Service Standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine)
  • Active Virginia State Board of Nursing CNA license OR Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program and have completed the first semester of clinical rotations OR Enrollment in Augusta Health’s in-house Patient Care Tech (PCT) program upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support - BLS
  • Ability to meet physical and mental requirements for fast paced nursing unit.
  • Able to communicate with patients and other staff- verbal, auditory, and in written form using Augusta Health documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare and/or customer service experience
  • Previous acute care hospital work experience

Responsibilities

  • Assisting unit staff nurses and clerical specialists to ensure efficient unit operations and safe patient care following established procedures.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit or within his/her department.
  • Provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures, while maintaining the Augusta Health Service Standards.
  • Successfully obtain and maintain CNA credentialing through the Virginia State Board of Nursing (for those enrolled in the PCT training program).
  • Complete unit and annual competencies each year.
  • Ensure no breaches of confidentiality (HIPAA).
