About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) - PACU role at Texas Health Southwest involves providing direct patient care and assistance based on the established plan of care and patient/family preferences. The PCT will collect and report patient data, support admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and perform technical procedures safely while documenting care accurately. This role requires collaboration with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations and cultural needs, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and proactively meeting patient and visitor needs. The PCT is expected to demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and effective communication across disciplines, participating in process improvement, adhering to safety goals, and advocating for patients. Texas Health Southwest, operating as one hospital across two locations with Texas Health Clearfork, serves the Fort Worth area and surrounding communities. It is a 261-bed, full-service hospital with specialties in surgical services, orthopedics, imaging, and adult critical care, featuring a 24-hour emergency department and various certifications including Primary Heart Attack Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Trauma Center, Level III Maternal Center, and Level III Neonatal Center. Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program.
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician
  • Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B)
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
