About The Position

The Patient Care Technician works in the Emergency Department at Union Hospital, which provides emergency care to patients of all ages and treats common illnesses and injuries, as well as performing immediate treatment and lifesaving procedures. The department is also an initial access point for the hospital’s Certified Primary Stroke Center, Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI, and Verified Level III Trauma Center. The technician supports high-quality, compassionate care for the Wabash Valley communities in collaboration with registered nursing staff.

Requirements

Basic medical knowledge and knowledge of patient care procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
Must have a valid Indiana CNA license or agree to complete the Union Health PCT Training program upon hire.
Must be certified in healthcare provider BLS upon hire.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with RN staff to assess patients’ needs and report concerns.
Assist in developing and modifying care plans, prioritizing patient problems, and performing medical tasks.
Provide patient education and follow applicable policies.
Respond to emergencies and act as a patient advocate while respecting patient rights and confidentiality.
Evaluate interventions, maintain professionalism, and seek assistance when needed.
