About The Position

This role involves contributing to a patient database by collecting and documenting patient information, preparing patient rooms, and assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. The technician is responsible for providing general patient care, including hygiene, dressing, and meal assistance, while ensuring patient privacy and safety. Additionally, the role requires collecting specimens, reporting changes in patient condition, responding to call lights, and performing delegated nursing tasks such as discontinuing IVs and catheters, phlebotomy, and wound care.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and documents patient information, including height, weight, allergies, vital signs, and intake/output measurements.
  • Prepares patient rooms for admissions, surgical patients, transfers, and discharges.
  • Assists with patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
  • Identifies patients correctly by name and checks name bands for accuracy and security.
  • Provides general patient care, including morning and evening care, hygiene, dressing, and changing linens.
  • Ensures patient privacy during all procedures.
  • Prepares patients for meals and assists with feeding.
  • Distributes drinking water, ice, and other nourishments.
  • Collects and transports specimens.
  • Reports changes in patient condition or behavior promptly.
  • Responds to patient needs and call lights, and checks on patients regularly.
  • Ensures patient safety through preventative measures.
  • Performs delegated nursing skills such as discontinuing peripheral IVs and Foley catheters, phlebotomy, EKG, bladder scanning, wound care, obtaining blood products, nasopharyngeal swabs, and ostomy appliance changes.
  • May perform duties of a Monitor Technician upon successful training and competency evaluation.
