About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Oncology position at Texas Health Fort Worth is a full-time role working nights. This role involves providing direct patient care and assistance based on the established plan of care and patient/family preferences. The PCT will be responsible for collecting and reporting patient data, supporting admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and performing technical procedures safely while documenting care accurately. Collaboration with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations and cultural needs is essential. The PCT will also maintain a clean and safe environment, proactively meet patient and visitor needs, demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and effective communication across disciplines, and participate in process improvement initiatives. Adherence to safety goals and patient advocacy are key aspects of this role. Texas Health Fort Worth is an 851-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital serving Fort Worth and surrounding Tarrant County communities since 1930, offering advanced care in various specialties and recognized for its high-acuity capabilities and commitment to training future physicians.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program.
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
