About The Position

DaVita is looking for a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team in an outpatient dialysis center. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease by providing care in an empathetic and compassionate way. No prior dialysis experience is required, as DaVita provides paid, extensive training to equip individuals with the necessary skills to care for patients and build a network of healthcare professionals. Upon completion of training, PCTs join a holistic team of care professionals, including nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other experienced PCTs. The role is described as more than a job, but a career based on passion and purpose, focused on 'giving life'.

Requirements

• Desire to enter the health care field to care for other people in need.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be comfortable working around blood and needles.
• Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb.
• Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet.
• Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Health care experience a plus including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.

Responsibilities

• Spend the majority of the day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup.
• Build long-term relationships with patients receiving treatment for end-stage renal disease.
• Educate patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
• Work under the supervision of an RN.
• Cross-function with a team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership.
