About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) role at Texas Health Fort Worth's Trauma ICU involves providing direct patient care and assistance based on the established plan of care and patient/family preferences. This position is part-time, working nights for 24 hours per week. The PCT is responsible for collecting and reporting patient data, supporting admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and performing technical procedures safely and accurately. Collaboration with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations and cultural needs is essential, as is maintaining a clean, safe environment and proactively meeting patient and visitor needs. The role emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, and effective communication across disciplines, along with participation in process improvement, adherence to safety goals, and patient advocacy. Texas Health Fort Worth is an 851-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital with advanced care in various specialties, including a Level I Trauma Center. Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire.
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician
  • Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
