About The Position

Saline Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for their Acute Rehab unit. This PRN position involves providing basic patient care, assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining a safe patient environment. The role supports nursing and physician staff and contributes to overall department efficiency. The unit emphasizes teamwork, compassion, and clear communication, fostering a collaborative environment for high-quality patient care.

Requirements

• High School diploma preferred.
• 6 months of healthcare experience
• BCLS required
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• SRNA or EMT preferred.
• Handle with Care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and overall department throughput.
• Documents care and activities per unit standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned; participates in performance improvement and required education.
