About The Position

Highpoint Health Sumner is seeking a Patient Care Technician for its post-operative and orthopedics care team. The role supports the organization's mission of making communities healthier by providing direct patient care and helping patients with daily activities. The technician observes and records patient behavior and activities, reports changes in condition to nursing staff, and assists with point-of-care testing and EKGs as needed. The position also performs IV starts and urinary Foley catheter insertions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with the posting noting that candidates with a State of Tennessee CNA license may be considered without a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• State of Tennessee CNA license preferred.
• One year of certified nurse technician or EMT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Provide or assist with providing direct patient care.
• Observe and record patient behavior and activities.
• Report changes in patients’ physical, mental, or emotional condition to nursing staff and suggest treatment-plan modifications.
• Assist with point-of-care testing and EKGs as needed.
• Perform IV starts and urinary Foley catheter insertions.
