About The Position

This is a part-time, night shift position for a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Med Surg unit at Texas Health Fort Worth. The PCT will provide patient care and assistance based on the plan of care and patient/family preferences. This includes collecting and reporting patient data, supporting admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and performing technical procedures safely and documenting care accurately. The role also involves collaborating with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations and cultural needs, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and proactively meeting patient and visitor needs. Teamwork, flexibility, and effective communication across disciplines are essential. The PCT will also participate in process improvement, adhere to safety goals, and advocate for patients.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program.
EMT - Emergency Medical Technician
Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B)
Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program
1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification.
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days
Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
