The Patient Care Technician provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner. This role involves providing safe and direct care, monitoring patients' conditions, assisting with patient needs, and contributing to a safe and clean environment. The technician will also play a role in patient experience by identifying patients, observing safety goals, and reporting changes in patient condition. Responsibilities include obtaining and recording patient information, assisting with specimen collection, attending mandatory training, and ensuring patient safety. The role requires cultural responsiveness and the ability to provide equitable care to a diverse patient population including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
