About The Position
The Patient Care Technician assists with professional nursing care for SIH patients. The position is full-time and works nights. Compensation is $19.02 to $28.53, commensurate with experience. Benefits information is available through SIH’s Benefits Guide/Plan Information link.
Requirements
- Complete an Illinois-approved CNA training program and pass a written competency test, or successfully complete a nursing arts course (such as Basis in Nursing, Fundamentals in Nursing, or Nursing 101).
- BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Assist nursing staff with patient care activities, including obtaining vital signs, measuring intake and output, bathing, feeding, and toileting.
- Assist in medical emergencies, including CPR.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the patient medical record.
- Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Complete delegated tasks from the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
- Advocate for patients by communicating and collaborating with other health service personnel.
- Complete required education and competencies on time.
- Cross-train as a telemetry technician if applicable to department needs.
