The Patient Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Additionally, the Patient Care Technician may assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator. This is a full-time night shift position on the Surgical Care Unit, a 34-bed unit serving a variety of surgical patients including ENT, abdominal, thoracic, urology, plastic, bariatric, and general surgery. PCTs on this unit assist with vitals, ambulation, ADL’s, glucometers, and I/O’s. The numerous procedures seen on this unit allow PCTs to develop skills with many types of drains, procedures, and patients. The unit is education focused, filled with hardworking caregivers, and provides many opportunities for learning and growth.
