About The Position

The Clinical Assistant's role is to assist the Registered Nurse (RN) and Medical Licensed Practical Nurse (MLPN) in ensuring the patient is safe, comfortable and clean.

Requirements

  • BLS: Basic Life Support (Within 3 months of hire or transfer, Qualification Source: AHA)
  • PCT: MMH PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN Certification (See detailed requirements in the job description regarding CNA, EMT, LPN, or Medical Assistant credentials)
  • FINGERPRIN: Fingerprinting
  • RECIPIENT: Recipient Rights (within 3 months of hire or transfer)
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the need for assisting with neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient care and performing other patient related tasks, recognizing the specific individual needs based on patient age groups unique to assigned unit(s).
  • Plans and prioritizes patient care functions to meet patients' health care needs.
  • Implements actions that compliment and support nursing care.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of care provided to ensure quality care and patient related issues are completed in a timely manner.
  • Self-Management: Hold self accountable for delivery of responsible patient care, demonstrates effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Assumes responsibility for own continued development and assists with the development of other staff members. These job responsibilities may be directed by the RN/MLPN.
  • Operates equipment as outlined on orientation checklists, policy and procedures. Participates in equipment in-services and competencies as they relate to role expectations.
  • Performs job skills outlined on orientation checklist as they relate to role expectations.
