About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) role at Texas Health Fort Worth in Ortho Trauma is a part-time position requiring 24 hours per week, with shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. This role involves weekend and holiday requirements. The position is for an individual contributor and requires the ability to function in a fast-paced environment with positive interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication. Nursing students who have completed fundamentals training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in the role if they have demonstrated skills. Tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program (not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire).
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B).
  • Other Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.
  • Other 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in an Ortho Trauma unit.
