About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a vital member of the collaborative nursing team, supporting Registered Nurses in hands-on patient care and helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment. The role assists with daily patient needs, including vital signs, mobility, and personal care, and helps RNs monitor patient conditions and carry out care plans. Through attention, empathy, and teamwork, the PCT supports patient comfort, dignity, safety, and recovery. The position is with St. David's Medical Center, part of St. David's HealthCare and HCA Healthcare. The medical center has acute care and rehabilitation hospital services and a range of inpatient and outpatient programs.
Requirements
- Obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment start date.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort to support care and recovery.
- Provide non-medicated care, including dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices.
- Keep patient areas and common spaces clean, organized, and stocked.
- Manage supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness.
- Communicate with patients, families, and the care team to support safety and quality.
- Support Registered Nurses in monitoring patient conditions and carrying out care plans.
