About The Position

This role supports nursing staff and patient care under the guidance of licensed staff and leaders. The position coordinates clerical activities for the unit/staff, acting as the focal point of communication on the nursing unit. The schedule is full-time, 36 hours per week, with night shifts.

Requirements

• Completion of clerical or medical terminology course
• Patient Care Assistant (PCA) or Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A.) course completion certificate.
• Or, currently enrolled in an RN degree program and have completed a fundamentals of nursing curriculum.

Responsibilities

• May function in patient care assistant and/or unit secretary role at any given time.
• Provides support to the nursing staff and patient care through the direction and guidance of licensed staff and leaders.
• Coordinates clerical activities for the unit/staff in coordination with patients, hospital departments, physicians and other customers.
• The unit secretary is the focal point of communication on the nursing unit.
