About The Position

Hartford Hospital is actively hiring Patient Care Technicians (PCT) for its Specialty Medical Nursing Units. This role operates within the Medicine Division and offers a supportive environment for professional and interpersonal development. The position involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care to patients with acute care conditions. The Patient Care Technician performs delegated functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including activities of daily living, vital signs, EKGs, and glucose checks, contributing to patient care, safety, and comfort in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards. This role is in a high-activity work environment requiring flexibility in scheduling, with potential for career advancement through a clinical ladder program.

Requirements

  • No experience required, training provided on-site.
  • Successful completion of PCT specific HHC orientation.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Some relevant experience in an acute care hospital environment.
  • Current certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Certification as a CNA, CPCT/A, EMT or CMA to be eligible for advancement in the PCT clinical ladder.

Responsibilities

  • Perform delegated functions as a member of a patient care team.
  • Provide a variety of services such as activities of daily living, vital signs, EKGs, and glucose checks.
  • Contribute to meeting the health care, safety and comfort needs of patients.
  • Adhere to all existing regulatory and hospital standards, policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
