Patient Care Technician
About The Position
DaVita is hiring an experienced Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease by providing care in an outpatient dialysis center. The position involves extensive paid training, allowing new hires to gain necessary skills and build a network within the healthcare field. Upon completion of training, PCTs work as part of a holistic care team, including nurses, dietitians, and social workers, to care for patients. The role is described as more than a job, emphasizing passion and purpose in giving life.
Requirements
- Dialysis experience is required.
- CCHT or dialysis course is required.
- Must be comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Healthcare experience is a plus, including BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment through direct one-on-one patient care.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
- Measure and record patient statistics.
- Observe patients and perform hemodialysis machine setup.
- Build long-term relationships with patients receiving dialysis treatment.
- Educate patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership.
- Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
