Patient Care Technician - Emergency Dept
About The Position
The Patient Care Technician provides essential clinical and non-clinical support to patients under the supervision of nursing staff. The role contributes to patients’ comfort, safety, and well-being by assisting with movement, personal care, and activities of daily living; observing and reporting changes in condition; maintaining patient rooms and equipment; and documenting information needed for patient care and team communication. The position is at Henry Ford Health Novi Hospital in the Emergency Department and is part-time days, 24 hours per week, with a stated schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
Nice To Haves
- Nurse Aide credentialed from the Michigan Nurse Aide Registry.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the movement and placement of patients to ensure their comfort and safety.
- Support patients with personal care and activities of daily living, promoting independence and dignity.
- Observe and report changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and ensure medical equipment is properly cared for.
- Document necessary records to support patient care and communication among the healthcare team.
