About The Position

Saint Mary's Regional Health System is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team. This PRN position offers various shifts. As a Patient Care Technician, you will perform basic patient care under the supervision of an RN, assist patients with daily living activities, maintain a clean and safe environment, manage the tech desk, and document care provided. The role also involves participating in performance improvement, required education, and assisting with staff education. Requirements

  • High School diploma preferred.
  • 6 Months of Healthcare experience
  • Nursing Assistant Certificate preferred.
  • BCLS required
  • Handle with Care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
  • Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
  • Keeps patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
  • Manages the tech desk; supports nursing/physician staff and department throughput.
  • Documents care and activities per unit standards.
  • Participates in performance improvement and required education; performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides direct patient care
  • Performs specific documentation in the patient's record
  • Maintains equipment and supplies and participates in quality assurance
  • Communicates appropriate information in departmental and interdepartmentally
  • Assists and participates in staff education and pursues continuing education for personal development.
  • Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures.
