About The Position

The Patient Care Technician position on the G18 Stem Cell Transplantation & Cellular Therapy unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse, and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care. The Inpatient G18 Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapy unit is a 48 bed unit and is one of our designated immunotherapy floors, administering research protocols involving immunotherapy and CARTOX therapy to patients, including Phase 1 clinical trials. As such, our staff receive additional training to develop the skills needed to provide exceptional care to patients receiving this progressive therapy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or Equivalent
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
  • The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of recent experience in an acute care setting as a Nursing Assistant or a CNA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs.
  • Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs.
  • Updates and retrieves patient information.
  • Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
  • Acts as part of an assigned care team.
