About The Position
This position at Northern Dutchess Hospital, part of Northwell Health, involves performing and delivering patient care activities and related non-professional services for assigned hospital patients as directed by registered professional nurses or licensed practical nurses. The role serves patients based on the scope of services in the ICU/CCU department. Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalency
- BLS within 30 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Nursing home or acute care experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Provides daily physical and emotional care to patients; i.e. bathing, toileting, feeding, ambulating, etc.
- Answers call lights in timely fashion
- Assists licensed personnel as directed.
- Accuracy in obtaining vs., ht, wt, i/o, and other procedures as per competency.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment, utilizing appropriate infection control techniques. (patient room, utility room, unit)
- Recognizes when to seek help from licensed personnel, i.e., changes in patient condition
- Transports patients as needed.
- Provides input to the interdisciplinary health care team.
- Acts as a preceptor to all new Nurse Assistants and orientee Nurse Assistants.
- Demonstrates use of appropriate body mechanics.
- Displays analytical and basic problem-solving skills.
- Communicates problems to manager as appropriate.
- Follows all time and attendance policies.
- Attends educational programs provided by the Hospital or those which are outside the Hospital that are related to job responsibilities.
