Exciting Opportunity at MSK: We are seeking a Patient Care Technician to become part of our team of dedicated professionals! As a member of our Magnet-designated Nursing team, you will provide support to the inpatient nursing staff while helping ensure the comfort and safety of our patients and their family members. Emergency Oncology - Urgent Care Center MSK’s Emergency Room (ER) operates 24/7, managing 80–100 patients daily. This unit does not handle trauma or 911 calls but provides urgent care for registered MSK patients. Once stabilized, patients are typically transferred to Cornell. The ER functions with ICU, Stepdown, Telemetry, and Med/Surg capabilities, and admits about 50% of its patients.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of healthcare-related experience in one or more of the following roles: Nursing Assistant (NA), Patient Care Technician (PCT), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical Technician, Phlebotomist, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • OR If less than 2 years of experience: A Nursing Assistant or other healthcare-related certification obtained within the past 12 months, AND At least 1 year of healthcare-related experience in one of the roles listed above
  • BLS certification required by time of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse and assist patients in a timely and efficient manner
  • Handle patient care situations with a high level of integrity, compassion, and professionalism
  • Responsible for taking vital signs, performing EKGs, and collecting specimens
  • Collaborate with the clinical team and provide assistance with procedures as needed
  • Use basic computer and data entry skills to support clinical documentation
