About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The Patient Care Technician provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This role is for a full-time position on the South University Day Unit, working 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm. The position is not a union position and does not require weekend or major holiday work. A sign-on bonus is available for eligible applicants.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.
  • If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility or a student nurse, currently enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing, who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
