The 24-bed inpatient unit at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton Surgical Unit is a dynamic and collaborative environment specializing in the care of surgical patients, including those undergoing endocrine, urological, abdominal, general, vascular, and orthopedic procedures. As a regional medical center, the team works closely with various surgical groups and a dedicated hospitalist team to ensure seamless, high-quality care. The team is committed to providing holistic, patient-centered care, addressing both physical recovery and emotional and overall well-being.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age required expect for Peabody Manor, The Heritage or Juliette Manor
  • American Heart Association HealthCare Provider Life Support (BLS)

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs delegated patient care activities using evidence-based practice and specific competencies for the patient population served.
  • Checks patients’ vital signs, height, and weight, as needed, based on patient type.
  • Provides compassionate care and listens to patients’ concerns and guides them by answering any questions or concerns.
  • Identifies and escalates changes in patient status or patient risks to prevent crisis.
  • Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports to care team.
  • Repositions, transfers, ambulates and transports patients.
  • Assists patients with basic needs (such as hygiene, eating, using the restroom, and dressing).
  • Obtains and reports patient intake and output.
  • Performs electrocardiograms (ECGs) as directed.
  • Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
  • Provides care that is age appropriate, culturally specific, and developmentally appropriate in an environment that promotes patient safety.
  • Demonstrates professional and therapeutic relationships with patients, families, team members, and providers.
