About The Position

Geisinger is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Medical Surgical ICU. This role involves providing enhanced patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse, including performing hygiene, collecting vital signs, conducting point of care testing, and assisting with clinical equipment and documentation. Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
• Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
• Strong ability to meet orientation and long-term full-time scheduling requirements
• Reliability, punctuality, and strong attendance
• Communication skills
• Computer literacy

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience

Responsibilities

• Facilitate ADLs including hygiene, toileting, mobility, and meals
• Collect vital signs and daily weights
• Conduct point of care testing
• Turn and reposition patients
• Perform equipment checks and exchanges
• Perform dressing care
• Remove Foley catheters and peripheral IVs
• Perform nasogastric tube removal and nasal swabs
• Check code carts and oxygen storage cabinets
• Perform venipunctures and skin punctures
• Document in medical records
• Provide one to one patient safety watch
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff
• Perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Transport blood products and non-controlled medications
