Patient Care Technician
About The Position
DaVita is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team in an outpatient dialysis center. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease by delivering care in an empathetic and compassionate way. The position provides a jump start to a career in healthcare with paid, extensive training, allowing the PCT to gain necessary skills and build a network. Upon completion of training, the PCT will join a team of nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other experienced PCTs to care for patients. It is described as more than a job, but a career based on passion and purpose.
Requirements
- Desire to enter the health care field to care for other people in need.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet.
- Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Health care experience a plus including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment through direct one-on-one patient care.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
- Measure and record patient stats.
- Observe patients.
- Perform hemodialysis machine setup.
- Build long-term relationships with patients.
- Educate patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
- Work under the supervision of an RN.
- Cross-function with a team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership.
