About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) supports nursing staff in providing patient care in the ICU at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, West Virginia. The technician performs basic care delegated by a registered nurse, helps patients with daily living activities, observes and reports changes in patient condition, and helps maintain a clean and safe care environment. The role also supports department operations and documents care according to unit standards. The schedule is full-time, night shift, three 12-hour shifts with a rotating weekend.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake and output recording.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, and ambulation.
• Observe and promptly report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manage the tech desk and support nursing and physician staff and overall department throughput.
• Document care and activities according to unit standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Participate in performance improvement and required education.
