About The Position

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU), you’ll support nurses in caring for critically ill, high-acuity patients. You’ll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and provide compassionate bedside care, including support for patients nearing end of life. Your steady presence and attention to detail help ensure safe, high-quality care during patients’ most vulnerable moments. Working in the Surgical Trauma ICU gives you hands-on experience with some of the hospital’s most complex surgical, trauma, cardiothoracic, and vascular patients. You’ll build advanced skills in vital signs, mobility support, patient monitoring, and recognizing subtle changes in patient condition in a fast-paced critical care environment. With a structured orientation and strong teamwork, you’ll gain confidence quickly and develop a solid foundation for future growth.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire
  • Completion of required PCT classes for the unit

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens
  • Support safe mobility including repositioning and transfers
  • Monitor and record vital signs
  • Document patient information accurately
  • Safely lift/move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
