About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) will perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision. This role involves assisting patients with ambulation, personal care, and daily living activities. The PCT will report findings and changes in patient condition to nursing staff, maintain patient rooms, and perform technical duties such as oxygen setup, Foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs. They will also be responsible for obtaining and recording vital signs, weight, and input/output measurements.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
• Assist patients with ambulation, including helping them to a recliner, to the bathroom, or down the hall.
• Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their vehicles.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Document necessary records.
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly, and maintain medical equipment.
• Perform certain technical patient care duties such as oxygen setup, Foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs as directed by the staff nurse.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
