About The Position

This is a 4-week on-the-job paid Patient Care Technician training program that will begin on Monday, July 13th. The program requires completion of the course for those 4 weeks, Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm, followed by 12-hour shifts after completion. Augusta Health is seeking a patient care technician to perform various duties assisting unit staff nurses and clerical specialists to ensure efficient unit operations and safe patient care following established procedures, under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse. Duties include bathing, dressing and feeding of patients, performing vital signs, phlebotomy and EKGs.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Ability to complete the 4-week training program (Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm).
Ability to work 12-hour shifts after completion of the training program.
Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit or within his/her department.
Ability to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures, while maintaining the Augusta Health Service Standards.

Responsibilities

Perform various duties assisting unit staff nurses and clerical specialists to ensure efficient unit operations and safe patient care following established procedures.
Bathe, dress, and feed patients.
Perform vital signs, phlebotomy, and EKGs.
