The Patient Care Tech is a member of the health care delivery team and is responsible for assisting the clinical team with daily duties and patient care. The Patient Care Tech performs delegated clinical duties within the supervising clinician or registered nurse’s scope of practice and in conjunction with a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), LPN, or RN. A Patient Care Tech’s duty may include the following: taking vital signs, observing during patient procedures/examinations, preparing laboratory specimens, using various pain scales to screen for pain, disinfection and stocking of exam rooms and clinical areas, and various clerical duties such as patient scheduling. A Patient Care Tech may be enrolled in the CMA course at Chesapeake College and eligible for the CMA Scholarship Program. This is a nonexempt, full-time position in pay grade 2 with the pay range of $17.39 - 21.74. The Patient Care Tech reports directly to the Medical Clinical Care Director.
